Moll files false statement complaint against Zack Space and Jennifer Brunner
Says one of them has to be lying
ZANESVILLE, OHIO 03/11/2010 – Today, Jeanette Moll, Republican candidate for Congress in Ohio’s 18th district, filed a
complaint against Zack Space and Jennifer Brunner with the Ohio Elections Commission.
“Either Zack Space or Jennifer Brunner is a liar,” Moll said. “Given that both of them are running for Congress, citizens have a right to know who they can trust.”
The complaint stems from conflicting accounts Space and Brunner gave newspapers late last year. Brunner told the National Journal that Space “admitted his endorsement of [Senate Candidate Lee] Fisher had to do with the governor’s potential role in determining which districts would be eliminated after the census.” Space promptly released a statement that said, “Rep. Space never said that at all.”
“It looks like Zack Space got caught red-handed trying to make a backroom deal,” Moll said. “Or maybe Jennifer Brunner made something up trying to get her campaign noticed. Either way, prospective voters deserve to know the truth, and I’ll work hard to expose it.”
The complaint asks for an expedited hearing and could be heard within a few weeks. If either person is found to have made a false statement, Ohio law provides that the person “shall be imprisoned for not more than six months or fined not more than five thousand dollars, or both.”
Moll said this is but another sad example of what is wrong with Washington.
“Americans agree they are tired of the shady, unethical backroom deals made famous in the ObamaCare bill: the Cornhusker Kickback, the Louisiana Purchase, and the Gator Aid,” said Moll. “By showing he is willing to sell his endorsements for political favors, the congressman may just as well say he is ‘Space for Rent.’”
