In welcoming Warner to the 18th district, Moll expressed what an honor it was to have him on the team.

“It’s quite an honor to have an American Hero like Jim Warner help my campaign,” Moll said. “In addition to his military service, it’s also important to note that he’s a recognized defender of the constitution.”

Warner is a Vietnam Veteran who spent five and a half years as a POW after being shot down. For two years, his “roommate” was John McCain. Prior to being shot down, Warner had flown over 100 missions.

Warner said he’s proud to support Jeanette Moll.

“Jeanette is a true patriot,” Warner said. “She’s pro-life, pro-gun and a true defender of the constitution – she’s the kind of person we need to send to Washington to clean up the mess.”

In addition to his military service, Warner served as Domestic Policy Advisor to President Ronald Reagan, focusing on economic and health policy. Warner received the 1990 H.L. Mencken Award for an editorial defending the First Amendment. Warner and Moll both wrote briefs in the Heller Supreme Court Case, which upheld individual rights to bear arms.

Moll files false statement complaint against Zack Space and Jennifer Brunner

Says one of them has to be lying

ZANESVILLE, OHIO 03/11/2010 – Today, Jeanette Moll, Republican candidate for Congress in Ohio’s  18^th district, filed a

 complaint against Zack Space and Jennifer Brunner with the Ohio Elections Commission.

“Either Zack Space or Jennifer Brunner is a liar,” Moll said.  “Given that both of them are running for Congress, citizens have a right to know who they can trust.”

The complaint stems from conflicting accounts Space and Brunner gave newspapers late last year. Brunner told the National Journal that Space “admitted his endorsement of [Senate Candidate Lee] Fisher had to do with the governor’s potential role in determining which districts would be eliminated after the census.” Space promptly released a statement that said, “Rep. Space never said that at all.”

“It looks like Zack Space got caught red-handed trying to make a backroom deal,” Moll said.  “Or maybe Jennifer Brunner made something up trying to get her campaign noticed. Either way, prospective voters deserve to know the truth, and I’ll work hard to expose it.”

The complaint asks for an expedited hearing and could be heard within a few weeks. If either person is found to have made a false statement, Ohio law provides that the person “shall be imprisoned for not more than six months or fined not more than five thousand dollars, or both.”

Moll said this is but another sad example of what is wrong with Washington.

“Americans agree they are tired of the shady, unethical backroom deals made famous in the ObamaCare bill: the Cornhusker Kickback, the Louisiana Purchase, and the Gator Aid,” said Moll. “By showing he is willing to sell his endorsements for political favors, the congressman may just as well say he is ‘Space for Rent.’”

ZANESVILLE (3/2/10) – Jeanette Moll, conservative Republican candidate for Congress in Ohio’s 18^th Congressional District, called on the United State Supreme Court to uphold the Second Amendment when it hears arguments today.

The court is hearing arguments in the case McDonald v. Chicago. Several Chicago residents who have are adversely affected by the Chicago handgun ban filed the case.

“The Supreme Court should take this opportunity to once again uphold the rights of American citizens to protect themselves in a responsible manner,” Moll said. “Just like the last Supreme Court case involving gun rights, the facts in McDonald clearly point to government infringement on individual rights.”

An ardent supporter of individual gun rights, Moll wrote an award-winning amicus brief in 2008 in the Heller case that reversed a similar handgun ban in the District of Columbia as unconstitutional.

“It’s a sad statement that we, as citizens, must fight all the way to the Supreme Court to stop the government from violating our constitutional rights,” Moll said. “But we will not be deterred by zealous politicians seeking to re-engineer the intentions of our nation’s founders.

A life member of the NRA and Concealed Carry Permit holder, Moll pointed out that, like her, the plaintiffs in the McDonald case are law-abiding citizens seeking to protect themselves.

“This lawsuit was filed by ordinary people like you and me: a man whose wife had to confront a home invader, a retiree whose apartment had been emptied by drug dealers, and a former police officer who wants to protect his business in the same manner as he protected the community,” Moll said.  “These law-abiding citizens should be able to protect themselves in their homes and their property without fear of criminal prosecution.”

Congressional candidates fall short of ballot

The Tuscarawas County Board of Elections at New Philadelphia rejected petitions Tuesday from three candidates for the 18th Congressional District seat because they lacked the required number of valid signatures.

According to Chuck Miller, director of the board of elections, the candidates needed 50 valid signatures to be included on the May primary ballot. Democrat Mark Pitrone of Gnadenhutten had just 38 valid signatures, Republican Michael D. Royer of Malvern had 49 names and Republican Helen Heskett Wolfe of Lancaster had 47 names.

They were all seeking the seat held by U.S. Rep. Zack Space, D-Dover.

Petitions for one candidate for the 96th District Ohio House of Representatives seat were also rejected, that of Libertarian Party candidate Justin Williamson of Dover. Miller said his petitions needed 25 valid signatures. Williamson only had 23.

Williamson told The Times-Reporter he plans to run as an independent in the general election in November.

Jeanette Moll is the qualified candidate

In May, we have a very important primary. For the first time in my life, I’m off the couch and checking the candidates who are running.

Jeanette Moll is absolutely my pick and is very qualified. She is an attorney residing in Zanesville, our neighbor, pro-God, attends a local church, teaches Sunday school, is pro-life and proves it by her life. She and her husband, Gary, have adopted three children over the past 10 years. Also, the Constitution is very important to her, and she will not vote on anything that is anti-constitutional. She runs a small business and knows quite well how to balance a budget.

There is much more I could say. I’m hoping you will take the time and meet her yourself and ask questions.

She and the other candidates will be at Ohio University-Zanesville from 6 to 9 p.m. April 8. Everyone should attend.

Congressional Race Draws Crowded Field

The Republican nomination for Congress in the 18th District looks to be the most hotly contested race in Tuscarawas County’s primary election, with nine candidates filing petitions Thursday before the deadline.

Two school levy renewals also will be on the ballot May 4.

Eleven congressional candidates filed petitions with the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections, among them the incumbent, Rep. Zack Space, D-Dover, and one Democratic challenger. Because Tuscarawas County is the largest county in the 18th District, candidates had to file their petitions in New Philadelphia, the county seat.

The candidates’ petitions first must be certified by the Board of Elections next week before their names will appear on the ballot.

The Republicans are Beau Bromberg, Newark; Fred Dailey, Mount Vernon; Dave Daubenmire, Thornville; Bob Gibbs, 6992 Township Rd. 466, Lakeville; Ron Hood, Ashville; Hombre Liggett, 4210 Broad Run Rd. NW, Dover; Jeanette Moll, Zanesville; Michael D. Royer, 6 Seneca Trail, Malvern; and Helen Heskett Wolfe, Lancaster.

In addition to Space, Mark Pitrone of 10557 Williams Rd. SE, Gnadenhutten, filed his petition for the Democratic primary.

Five candidates are seeking the 96th District Ohio House of Representatives seat, including the incumbent, Democrat Allan R. Sayre of 176 Downey Hill Rd. Ext., Dover. The other candidates are Republicans Bill Behrendt, 138 Ray Ave. NW, New Philadelphia; Allen C. Landis, 4570 Harold St. NW, Dover, and Eric Reip, 1103 Baltzley Valley Rd. SE, New Philadelphia, and Libertarian Justin Williamson, 1977 Wagner St., Dover.

Two candidates filed petitions for Tuscarawas County commissioner, including incumbent Republican Kerry Metzger of 120 Prysi Pkwy. SE, New Philadelphia. Democrat James Earl McCormick of 468 Spaulding Ave., Newcomerstown, also filed.

Two county offices had only one candidate each, and both are incumbents: Tuscarawas County Auditor Matt Judy of 121 E. 13th St., Dover, and Common Pleas Judge Elizabeth Lehigh Thomakos, 446 Seneca Ave. SW, New Philadelphia. Judy is a Democrat and Thomakos, a Republican.

Garaway Local School District at Sugarcreek is seeking a 1.0-mill, five-year renewal levy for general permanent improvements. Tuscarawas Valley Local School District at Zoarville will have a 2.2-mill, five-year renewal levy for emergency requirements on the ballot.

Other levies on the ballot, all for five years, follow: Clay Township, 2.25-mill renewal levy to provide and maintain fire apparatus and appliances; Port Washington, 0.06-mill renewal levy for maintaining and operating a union cemetery; Strasburg, 1.0-mill renewal levy for providing and maintaining fire apparatus, buildings and sites; Union Cemetery, 0.48-mill renewal levy for operating and maintaining Joint Union Cemetery; Uhrichsville, 2.0-mill additional levy for purchasing a new fire truck and fire equipment; and Warwick Township, 1.0-mill additional levy for fire protection.
